Jewish youth programming sees a post-Oct. 7 boom across Canada

Zenith Wolfe, Canadian Jewish News – July 7, 2026

BBYO, NFTY and NCSY have collectively expanded programming and opened dozens more chapters and clubs in recent years. When Ottawa opened its new BBYO chapter in December 2025, Leora Taub-Handelman, 15, was one of the inaugural members. As the vice-president of programming, one of 10 leadership roles at the new chapter, she helped their membership grow to around 30 people by the end of the academic year.

Finding a stronger version of myself at BBYO

Mia Stanger, Hamilton Jewish News – March 14, 2026

I went to BBYO’s Chapter Leadership Training Conference (CLTC) last summer looking for a good experience, and I found community, confidence, and a stronger version of myself. I have been a member of BBYO since Grade 8, but I never really knew all it had to offer. CLTC showed me that BBYO offers more than I could possibly imagine. Before going, I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. I wondered if I would fit in or make friends, but I also knew that growth doesn’t happen without stepping out of your comfort zone.

A safe space for Jewish students

Melissa Dubinsky, Hamilton Jewish News – November 30, 2025

The amazing time I’ve had with BBYO over the past four years inspired me to volunteer to run “BBYO Connect:” our new program for kids in Grades 6-8. In Hamilton and Oakville there is a big Jewish community, with a lot of kids of a variety of ages. I believe that those kids should get an opportunity to meet each other and have fun together, like my friends and I do at BBYO.
